Hearing the first reading of C-201, a private member’s bill from NDP MP Don Davies that calls for the development of a national school-food program, was an exciting day for parents and advocates across the country. This bill builds on the government’s intention, as signalled in the 2019 budget, of working towards such a program.
Yet, school food advocates are still holding their breath, waiting for funding to seal the deal, as similar promises have been made before.
