NDP dental care program covering more Canadians in June

VANCOUVER— Beginning in June, the NDP dental plan will expand to cover children under 18 and people living with disabilities across the country—changing the lives of 4.5 million Canadians.

On Friday morning, Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, NDP MP Don Davies (Vancouver Kingsway) and NDP MP Bonita Zarrillo (Port Moody—Coquitlam) spoke at a seniors' centre where seniors shared how the dental coverage New Democrats delivered has improved their life.

NDP forces debate on grocery prices and making grocery giants pay what they owe

OTTAWA— On Tuesday morning, New Democrats forced a debate on sky-high grocery prices and the need for an excess profit tax on grocery giants. NDP leader Jagmeet Singh and NDP finance critic Don Davies forced the debate in the House of Commons on the same day that Statistics Canada reported that, from April 2021 to April 2024, grocery prices increased by a staggering 21.4 per cent.

But as frustration mounts over high prices — including a recent drive to boycott Loblaws — the NDP says the government should take action if the majority of MPs support such a move.

“An expression of the majority of people in the House of Commons I think should have a political, moral and ethical impact on any government that is serious about providing relief for people,” said NDP finance critic Don Davies.
