I was honoured to speak at the annual ceremony of remembrance for Journey to Freedom Day at McAuley Park on Saturday, April 30th. This day marked 47 years since the end of the Vietnam war and the arrival of Vietnamese refugees in Canada by boat. Also announced at the ceremony was the final total of fundraising efforts to support Ukrainian refugees. Thank you to the Vietnamese Canadian community for your commitment to democracy, human rights, freedom and your generosity in helping other refugees.
We had a fabulous turnout for our 2024 Vancouver Kingsway Community BBQ!
This was our biggest event yet; we served over 2500 hot dogs, watermelon, chips and lemonade.
Special thanks to my staff, our fabulous volunteers and all of our constituents who came together to celebrate our community and connect with neighbours.
Thank you to the Victoria Drive Business Improvement Association for celebrating the diverse cultures and cuisines that make Vancouver Kingsway so vibrant! Jones Park was alive with sights, sounds, and tastes of our community. Our office was happy to host a booth and be a stop on the “passport” scavenger hunt!
